A Map of the Known World (1987)

An interactive sound + video installation commissioned by La Villette Museum in Paris for its opening in spring 1986. Visitors could explore the playing of a small kalimba (mbira) linked to a digital sound / graphics interface.

Commissioned by the Massachusetts Arts Council in 1987, "A Map" was exhibited at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA in June—August 1987. Links between mbira playing and computer music & graphics were further explored in this installation.
